Dev Log 2 - Pitching a Game
Cyberattacks are all too common in every sector of entertainment and government. However, cyber attacks also affect the gaming sector. This game explores the risks and challenges game companies face against cyber attacks. Players get to choose from varieties of game companies that have faced cyber attacks. The goal of this game is to successfully create games while having revenue, keeping public perception high while dealing with cyberattacks.
To summarize my game, Game Hack is a board game that is heavily inspired by Monopoly and Snake and Ladders. The player has to go around the board and face hurdles and obstacles along the way. The first person who makes 10 successful rotations win the game. I wanted my game to be more focused on the educational element than the competition side of the gameplay.
When pitching my board game I thought it would be good to slightly under developing my game during conception. With the whole online way of thing, I was thinking it would be good to underdevelop and when I have a group it would be great to develop over time. I thought that if I had overdeveloped or had my scope of the game too great then most of it would be scrapped. The teacher's comment of my game being too luck-based was something I had not thought about during conception. I will try to make my game more skill-based while preserving the educational element.
