Dev Log #7 Pre-production

Pre-production

I am working on the actual production side of the game. Right now our group is working hard on finalizing game mechanics and making a clear ruleset. In order to achieve this constant playtesting is needed. We try to gather testers outside of school so that we get a perspective of an average person. Since our group is making a board game it is pivotal for the player to clearly understand the rules and mechanics before playing the game.

My role so far is to test the game, plan out how to get a physical game, and work on documentation. I try my best to prepare myself for setbacks in the future. Due to supply chain issues and mitigating future art implication issues that I know will happen, I make it clear what I need to create a physical game. I use this site to create the board game and went through it with my group to decide the dimensions of the game parts.

Playtesting

After the first playtesting we came to the conclusion that we needed to add and rephrase some rules in the rule book. To add, there had to be more changes on the board itself, but in order to know what to change there has to be more playtest with both my group and external players. Lastly, the gameplay differs depending on the number of players playing the game. Initially, we wanted the game playable with only two-player, but the game became too long and making the game overall not fun to play. So we made the description of the to be 3-4 players.
