Dev Log #1 Conducting Research for Game Design
During the research process, I learned many hurdles game companies have to deal with. Cyberattacks are prominent and affect both the consumer of games as well as the developers of them. Recently big game companies such as EA, Capcom. Sony and CD Projekt Red face cyberattacks that have major consequences.
With all the research that I have done it always seems to be one common factor which is ransoming. There is always a profit motive for these cyberattacks, and it usually occurs in established companies. These "cyber thieves" would hack these companies and tries to get the personal detail of the customers and the source code of the games these companies are making. With these stolen assets the thieves would go to private forums or the black market to sell online.
For my game, I want to integrate the problems that the company face. These things include blackmail, stolen source code, poor cyber security, ransoming, and poor public image. With the research I have done I learned that even a game development company is vulnerable to cyberattacks and digital thefts. I want to do this because I think this is an underrated issue that many people are unaware of.
